This summer in the wake of a computer virus that crippled my employer for the better part of a week, lets just say they were appreciative of the part I played in making it go away. To make up for the weekend I spent with them... they rewarded me with a weekend with Wendy on their dime.

I decided we would do it for our 5 year anniversary, and we would stay in town and do the things we would never do without this occasion. We lived the Downtown Cincinnati high life for a weekend.

We stayed at the Cincinnatian Hotel, a swank 124 year old luxury hotel on 6th street. We ate at Jean-Robert at Pigall's. The restaurant opened by former Maisonette chef Jean-Robert de Cavel in 2002. My first course was Pumpkin soup, which was different, but very good. The next night we hit the longest running 5 star restaurant in the county, 40 years of 5 stars, the Maisonette. The atmosphere was warmer than Jean-Robert's and definitely carried the aura of being "the Maisonette." The menu had a few more things I actually remembered as being edible, but if I was going to return to one or the other I think I would choose Jean-Robert's.

It was fun to live a weekend wearing someone else's shoes. It was even better to put back on my comfortable ones.
